Most boards cannot tell you whether their decisions got better last year.
Every governance reform of the last thirty years has measured what goes into the boardroom: composition, director tenure, process, meeting cadence, committee structure. There has been little focus on measuring the specific outcomes around board decisions, whether those decisions were well-made, whether the assumptions held, whether the decision-making improved over time. We believe this is the next frontier in governance, and we are building the methodology and data set to address it.
Who we are
MxC Advisory was founded by Baroness Helena Morrissey and Niamh Corbett. Through the 30% Club, we helped move women's representation on FTSE 350 boards from under 10 per cent to over 40 per cent, by reframing board composition as a question of decision quality rather than quotas. We are applying a similar approach to the questions boards face now.
What we do
Decision Intelligence. The Board Decision Quality Framework: a structured methodology for recording board-level decisions, reviewing them against what actually happened, and producing the missing data on whether boards decide well.
Board Advisory. Bespoke retained advisory work for chairs and boards, with two specialist practices: funds governance, including shareholder activism, and private equity portfolio governance.
Risk Culture. Building consistent risk-aware judgement in situations no playbook covers.
Corporate Culture. Identifying where the gaps sit between stated values and lived experience, and addressing what we find through tailored remediation.
Our thinking on board decision quality is set out in more detail in our Insights, including a paper called Moneyball for Boards.
